Writer of novels for young adults
Laura Baggaley is a London-based writer and theatre director. Her first young adult novel was longlisted for the Times / Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition and was recently a finalist in the Mslexia Children’s Novel Competition. She is represented by David Higham Associates.
Laura studied English at Oxford as an undergraduate, then took an MA in Text and Performance Studies at King’s College, London and RADA. She wrote regular fiction reviews for the Observer newspaper for three years, and has written many reviews of theatre books for the Times Literary Supplement.
As a theatre director, Laura has worked at numerous theatres including the National Theatre, the Open Air Theatre Regent’s Park and Southwark Playhouse, and was an associate artist then trustee of Boundless Theatre. She recently established a new theatre company, Reusable Theatre, to create awareness-raising productions about the climate emergency.
Through her background in theatre directing and adult education, Laura has extensive experience in leading workshops.
